General information

The BLADE beer machine is a countertop draught beer machine that provides freshly tapped beer. The machine plugs into a regular power outlet and requires no external CO2 or complex setup.

The BLADE beer machine uses 8L kegs of beer, which is roughly 14 pints. Check out our selection of BLADE beer kegs.

Including the drip tray, BLADE measures 590 x 290 x 471 mm (h x w x d). It weighs 17.6 kg on its own, and around 26 kg with a full keg installed.

The BLADE home beer tap uses about 0.8 kWh per day—similar to running a 35W light bulb continuously. The BLADE will make a noise when it's cooling and may emit a low hum - like a regular fridge.

The BLADE draught beer machine comes with a 2-metre power cable, a dome, drip tray and tap handle. If you want, you can purchase a Starter Pack, which comes with an 8L BLADE keg of beer for your first BLADE home beer tap experience.

Setting up your BLADE beer machine couldn't be easier! Just plug it into the wall, install your first keg and pour the perfect pint. There are clear instructions on the keg box, or you can watch some setup videos here.

Start by following the instructions on the keg box, or watch our BLADE setup videos. Make sure the black and orange parts of the nozzle aren’t touching before installation—this keeps the beer from flowing unintentionally. Always double-check the nozzle before inserting a keg to avoid spills.

If you're having a problem with your beer machine, please don't try more than 2 different kegs as a test. If there is a problem with your keg, please do not dispose of it, in case we need to investigate further.

For best results, chill the keg in your fridge for at least 16 hours. If it’s at 4°C when you load it into the BLADE, you’ll be able to serve great beer right away.

It takes a bit of practice to get the perfect pour with a BLADE beer machine. Here are a few tips and tricks to get you started:

• Chill the keg for 16-24 hours before loaded. Once loaded make sure the dial turns blue, meaning beer is ~3°C.
• Make sure the glass you use it clean - rinse with lukewarm water using a BLADE Glass Brush—no soap or dishwasher.
• Tilt the glass to a 45° angle under the tap (don’t let tap touch glass or beer).
• Open the tap fully. Straighten glass as it fills. Skim foam to 2cm for the perfect head.

For more details, or a video to get you going, check out our page on how to pour a pint with the BLADE beer machine.

Only when a BLADE keg is installed. If your BLADE is empty, it’s fine to unplug it.

Don't worry - that's the noise of the fan at the back of the BLADE draught beer machine which keeps the keg cool.

You’ll hear the air pump working to regulate pressure while pouring. It’ll stop shortly after you finish.

Condensation is perfectly normal. Just make sure to wipe it down regularly to avoid any long-term damage, as corrosion from condensation isn’t covered by the warranty.

Take a look at the temperature gauge - the optimum drinking temperature is when the pointer of the temperature gauge is at the bottom of the scale. Only use pre-cooled kegs at a temperature of 3-4 ⁰C.

You can remove an open keg from your BLADE beer machine, but it should not be used again. To keep your beer fresh and at the right pressure, always store an open keg inside the beer machine.

No, BLADE beer kegs are specially designed for the machine and need the controlled pressure the draught beer machine provides.

No, BLADE beer kegs are made exclusively for use with BLADE machine.

Set it up on a level, sturdy surface that’s resistant to heat and water. Keep it near a power outlet for easy unplugging if needed.

For best performance, use it in a space between 10°C and 38°C with humidity no higher than 75%. It's best to keep your BLADE beer machine out of direct sunlight, as it can have an effect on the cooling process.

Cleaning & maintenance

Always unplug the draught beer machine first. Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the exterior, and a dry cloth for the cooling chamber. Never submerge it or use harsh cleaning products.

The drip tray should be washed with warm soapy water after each use, and we recommend cleaning the beer tap every time you change the keg.

If it’s time to part ways, you can find recycling points in the UK at Recycle Your Electricals or Recycle Now. Recycling helps recover valuable materials and reduces waste.

Kegs & beer storage

A BLADE keg is an 8-litre beer keg made specifically for the BLADE home beer machine.

Each BLADE keg measures 20.5 x 36.91cm and weighs about 8.3kg.

BLADE kegs hold 8 litres or just over 14 UK pints.

Unopened BLADE beer kegs stay fresh for at least a month after purchase. Once opened and kept in a running BLADE beer machine, your beer will stay fresh for up to 30 days. Always check the best-before date on the side of the keg, and store unused BLADE kegs in a cool, dry place.

We sometimes offer BLADE beer kegs at a discount when their best before date (BBD) is approaching. This 'Sale Price' will be clearly stated at checkout. If you're buying for a future occasion, we recommend choosing BLADE kegs at their 'Original Price' or from our regular selection of promotions.

Keep them in a cool, dark place, ideally below 20°C. This helps preserve carbonation and prevents off-flavours, keeping your beer tasting fresh and crisp.

No — please don’t. Freezing can damage the packaging and lead to leaks. In some cases, the keg may even burst.

Yes. They’re mostly made from PET plastic, including 30% recycled materials. Most local councils in the UK accept them with household recycling. Check your local guidelines via the Recycling Locator to be sure.

The kegs are sturdy, but they could leak if they freeze or they are punctured. If your keg is leaking upon arrival, please follow these BLADE troubleshooting steps. Please include your order number and a picture of the keg when contacting us, so we can help you as fast as possible.

If your beer is foamy, there could be a few culprits. Foam is usually caused by beer which has not been cooled long enough.

Make sure that your home beer kegs are pre-chilled - at least 16 hours in the fridge. Some other things to try include:

• Checking if the keg is installed properly
• Checking if the keg is locked
• Ensuring the perfect pour

For more details, see this BLADE support video.

If your consistently experience foamy kegs, please try our troubleshooting process, or contact Customer Care.

These are pre-owned machines that have been returned, repaired, and tested. They may show a bit of cosmetic wear, but they work just as well and include a new dome and a keg of beer.

They're a great way to get a BLADE beer machine at a lower price point, plus take a more sustainable approach!

Grade B: more visible wear, possibly recoated. Still fully functional and comes with the same new accessories and kegs.

We work with a trusted third-party partner who handles all repairs, testing, and cleaning. Functional parts are replaced as needed, and while there may be minor cosmetic flaws, the beer machine is fully operational and safely packaged.

BLADE rental

The rental period is 7 days. We recommend having the machine delivered a minimum of 2 days before any event you are planning.

BLADE rental machines arrive with everything needed to operate the machine (excluding the beer itself). This includes a power cable, drip tray and dome.

No, beer kegs are not included in the rental. If you would like to purchase beer kegs from us, please purchase them through our website (see our assortment of BLADE kegs). We aim to deliver kegs within 3 working days, although this is longer for remote areas

You can also order your kegs further in advance, as each keg is guaranteed to have 30 days remaining before expiration, and this can prevent frustration in the case of any delay.

Of course, you can rent as many machines as are available on the website.

If you are interested in purchasing your machine after use, please contact our Customer Care department so that we can assist you.

Keep kegs in a cool, dark place, ideally below 20°C. This helps preserve carbonation and prevents off-flavours, keeping your beer tasting fresh and crisp. Try not to shake the kegs - if they get accidentally shaken, wait a while before opening them to avoid excessive foaming.

If there is a problem with your beer pour, please follow these troubleshooting steps in order:

  • Check if the kegs are chilled - ideally kegs should be pre-chilled for 16 hours.
  • Try another pour - sometimes the first pour of a keg can be foamy.
  • Assess your pouring technique. You can check out this page for the best way to use a BLADE machine.
  • Try another keg - ideally from a different brand. Please don’t try more than 2 kegs.

If the problem persists, please make a video of yourself pouring a beer and send it to our Customer Care department, either via email or through our chatbot. We will try to help as soon as possible.

You are liable for any damage incurred during the rental period. Upon return of the machine, damages will be assessed and we will contact you for further action. For more details, please see the T&Cs or your Rental Agreement.

Please contact Customer Care immediately if this happens, ideally with photographs or a video.

You are responsible for the machine during the rental period, as outlined in the Rental Agreement. If a machine is stolen during your rental you could be liable for the full cost of the machine.

If you return a different machine or a different item, you will be contacted by Customer Care. Please be aware that this is a violation of your Rental Agreement, and you could be liable for the full cost of the machine.

We ask that you take a photograph of your machine in the provided packaging before sending your machine back via DPD. That way you can avoid liability for any damages incurred during transport.

If you missed the first pickup, DPD will attempt collection on the following working day (Mon-Fri). If you miss more than one collection attempt, please contact the Customer Care department. We can re-arrange another collection attempt.

Please be aware that not returning your machine is a violation of your Rental Agreement, and you could be liable for the full cost of the machine.

Please contact Repair It Reuse It at bladerental@staffords.ltd.ukfor assistance. If your machine is to be used for a specific event, we will endeavour to get a replacement machine to you in time, although we cannot guarantee this.
