HOW TO CLEAN YOUR BLADE BEER TAP

A simple step-by-step guide

Cleaning your BLADE beer machine might not sound like the most exciting thing to do on a Sunday afternoon, but it’s the secret to perfectly fresh pours every time. Whether you’re wondering how to clean a Heineken BLADE beer machine or just looking to keep your setup spotless, this guide is for you.

A clean BLADE means fresher beer, better hygiene, and a machine that lasts longer. The good news? It’s easier than you think. These cleaning instructions for BLADE beer system will keep your machine looking (and performing) its best.

Why cleaning your BLADE matters

The clever thing about BLADE is that the beer itself never comes into contact with the machine. It stays safely inside the BLADE kegs. This significantly reduces the amount of cleaning and maintenance required, although it doesn’t mean you can skip giving it a good once over.

BLADE beer tap cleaning helps to:

  • Keep the machine hygienic
  • Prevent unwanted odours
  • Maintain that fresh pub-quality taste
  • Extend the lifespan of your device

Neglecting maintenance can cause issues down the line. So, if you’ve ever asked what happens if you don’t clean your BLADE beer dispenser? — consider this your gentle nudge to give it some TLC.

A quick clean now and then is all it takes.

What you’ll need to clean your BLADE beer tap

Before you start your step-by-step BLADE beer tap cleaning, grab the essentials:

  • A soft, damp cloth
  • Mild washing-up liquid
  • A dry cloth or paper towel
  • A vacuum cleaner (non-battery-operated)

Avoid dishwashers, aggressive cleaners or water jets as they can damage your BLADE’s premium finish.

Step-by-step: how to clean your BLADE

#1. Safety first

Before you touch anything:

  • Switch off the appliance using the main power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall socket.
  • Make sure there’s no keg inside (if there is, unlock and remove it).

Never immerse the machine, power cord or plug in water.

#2. Wipe the outer surfaces

Use a soft, damp cloth to gently clean the outside of the machine. A lens cleaning cloth is perfect for the indicator panels as they’ll stay clear and easy to read.

#3. Clean the dome and drip tray

Remove the transparent dome and drip tray:

  • Wash both parts with warm water and a bit of mild detergent.
  • Rinse and dry thoroughly before reattaching.

Tip: empty the drip tray regularly to avoid overflow (especially after a big weekend!).

#4. Clean the bowl

Use about 100ml of warm water and mild soap to clean the inside bowl where the keg sits.

  • Wipe the inner surface dry.
  • Check the drain line isn’t blocked to avoid any build-up later.

#5. Vacuum the ventilation

Every 3 months (or when needed), vacuum the ventilation openings on the side or back of your BLADE beer tap. This step is crucial for Heineken BLADE maintenance as it keeps the condenser cool and your beer chilled to perfection.

Things to avoid when cleaning your BLADE

Don’t risk damaging your machine. Here’s what not to do:

No dishwashers

No harsh chemicals

No water jets

No abrasive scrubbers

How often should I clean my BLADE beer machine?

  • After every keg: empty and rinse the drip tray
  • Monthly: clean the dome, bowl and exterior
  • Quarterly: vacuum the condenser vents

Tip: set a reminder in your calendar — your future self (and your mates) will thank you.
