Mulled Beer Recipe
Delicious, warming and truly festive
When the days are getting shorter and colder again, that's the ideal time for our mulled beer recipe. As a real beer fan, you probably don't just want to enjoy mulled wine or punch this autumn and winter, but would you like it to be a little more beer?
What is mulled beer anyway?
Mulled beer is the beer version of mulled wine and punch. In the cold season, warm drinks are simply part of it. As a beer fan, you don't want to do without your favourite drink even in the cold months. For this reason, we have a mulled beer recipe here.
Now it's time to get down to business!
Ingredients for your mulled beer:
- 3L black beer or dark bock beer
- 100g of brown sugar
- 3 tbsp honey
- ½ lemon, squeezed
- 500ml cherry juice, orange juice or elderberry juice
- 80ml of rum
Spices: any that you like! We recommend 6 cloves, 2 star anise, 2 cardamom pods, 2 cinnamon sticks and a bit of vanilla.
Mulled Beer Recipe
Step 1: First, use a sharp knife to chop up the cinnamon sticks and star anise. Then put them in a tea infuser along with the cloves and cardamom pods.
Step 2: Pour the beer into a large pot and hang the tea infuser. Heat it carefully to about 60°C, but do not bring it to a boil.
Step 3: Now add the brown sugar and honey. Then turn off the stove and let the beer and spices steep for about half an hour.
Step 4: Now remove the spices from the pot. Then pour in the lemon juice, rum and juice (cherry, elder or orange depending on your preference) and stir well.
Step 5: If the mulled beer is to be drunk straight away, heat it up again to 60 degrees beforehand. If you want to keep it for later, let it cool down first and then fill it into bottles.
We wish you every success with our recipe for mulled beer. Bottoms up!
